Google Transit Feed Specification (GTFS)
The slightly misnamed Google Transit Feed Specification was created by Google and licensed under Creative Commons, free for all to use. The format continues to be extended by a community process in the GTFS-changes group. Over fifty transit agencies already publish their data in this format, several of which release their feed to the public.

Transit Communications Interface Profiles (TCIP)
The TCIP is a heavyweight brainchild of the transit industry standards body American Public Transit Association (APTA). The TCIP is complex and proprietary, but preferred by some large transit agencies because of its comprehensive scope. There has been very little adoption of this format in practice.

TransXChange
TransXChange is an XML data format developed to distribute schedule information between the myriad parties involved in the UK's privatized bus transport systems. It is derived from the CEN TransModel data model. No data has been released to the public in this format.
